Getting Rid of an Employee Mindset

Melissa Smith

melissa smithMelissa Smith is The PVA (The Personal Virtual Assistant). She owns a firm that matches clients with the right virtual assistants based on communication strategy and ideal client fit.

Prior to starting her own company, Melissa held a variety of different positions as an Executive Assistant for over 15 years. Realizing that most clients were unaware of what a VA is and what duties a VA can perform, Melissa felt compelled to write a book. In May 2016, she became the bestselling author of: Hire the Right Virtual Assistant: How the right VA will make your life easier, create time, and make you more money. The book resulted in her being a sought-out consultant for virtual assistants. In order to meet demand and keep the cost affordable for anyone who desired to be a business owner, she created the “Admin to VA Summit” where she interviews top business experts and teaches current administrative professionals to become virtual assistant business owners.

However, being a business owner is something Melissa said she would NEVER do. The future didn’t always seem so bright and Melissa has gone through some dark days including teenage pregnancy, being a double suicide survivor of both her father and her husband, and suffering from anxiety for 15 years.

The driving force to make such drastic changes in her life are Melissa’s children, Isaac & Elyssa. In an effort to make sure her children were not victims and could see how dreams do come true if you never give up, Melissa decided to start conquering her fears and anxiety including a long-time fear of flying. In 2017, Melissa is working and living in 12 countries in 12 months.

Stop, Drop, and Practice Self-Care

I stopped and cleaned my eyeglasses today. That is such a mundane thing, and I know you probably can’t imagine it being worthy of writing about. But the reality is that the glasses sitting at my desk in my office have needed cleaning for at least two weeks. And I just haven’t stopped to take the time, even thought I could have much sooner.
