Why You Might Need a FitBit

I looked into getting a Fitbit when they first came out but rejected the idea.

I had a series of happy accidents that happened over the last couple of weeks that led me back in that direction.

First, I met a woman at a conference who showed me hers, and showed me how she tracked her food with it and how easy it was and how she lost 18 pounds and that piqued my interest in it again.

Then, a week ago I walked into a Verizon store to talk about upgrading my phone, and they started throwing everything at me and the kitchen sink which included a Fitbit for free.

(My posts often can contain affiliate links to products or information that I believe will be useful to my readers.)

They have come along way since I first looked at them and even though I could have gotten the top of the line one for free, I picked an Alta.

It looked a little masculine to me at first which I wasn’t comfortable with, but I picked a cute little plum colored one and have been enjoying it all week.

I need to start out by telling you they are not a hundred percent accurate. But they do give you a very good
idea of all kinds of things. You can track how much water you are drinking. It tracks your sleep if you wear it
at night. It tracks your steps, and your calorie output. And you are able to input your food so that you can track how many calories you’re eating.

I do notice that even after it syncs you may have to click on a certain area before it actually updates it. It will tell you that you have no sleep logged when you really do and things like that but as soon as you click on it it will update.

But there is one very confusing feature where it tells you that you’re over budget on your food calories and that you have more calories to use. I find that very confusing, and apparently so do a lot of other people as we had to Google it for an explanation. Because the explanation is rather complicated I think I’ll let you research it for yourself to make a decision.

But overall I have been extremely happy with my new FitBit. I’ve lost 2.8 pounds in the last two weeks using the Fitbit and HCG diet.

What the Fitbit has helped me to understand is that at best I expend an average of 1,600 calories in a day. And it’s also helped me to understand that I need to walk more in order to expend those 1,600 calories.

I already knew that I was very sedentary. But the FitBit has really helped me to understand why I can eat so little and not lose much weight.

I will confess that I did eat an entire 950 calorie pizza today which is completely off my diet, but it did taste good and I’m going dancing tonight so I will expend much more calories than I normally do and I will rack up at least 5,000 steps in 2 hours as opposed to my 3,000 steps in an entire day.

But I now understand that I can’t eat like I was and have to make better decisions for a lifelong change. I see that If I want to lose 1 pound in a week, I need to eat 500 calories less than I expend every day. So it’s confusing when I eat say 750 calories less but GAIN weigh because I exercised more.

So some days I win some and some days I lose some.

Have you tried the FitBit? What are your thoughts?
